Carbon Reporting Schemes

Display Energy Certificates (DECs)

These help to raise awareness of the energy usage of public buildings. All public buildings with a total useful floor area greater than 250m² are required to have a valid DEC and Advisory Report (AR) in place.

Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)

These make it illegal to grant new leases to properties with an EPC rated F or G. We can help you improve your EPC rating so that you avoid the non-compliance fines of up to £150,000.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

These are intended to inform prospective buyers or tenants about the energy performance of a building in the form of a rating from A-G rating. They are valid for a 10 year period and there are financial penalties in place for non-compliance.

Climate Change Agreements (CCAs)

These are voluntary agreements made between UK business and the government to reduce energy use and carbon dioxide emissions. They were established to allow energy intensive businesses to reduce the cost of the Climate Change Levy (CCL) charge on their electricity and gas bills.

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)

This is a mandatory compliance scheme for large organisations in the UK. ESOS aims to reduce EU energy consumption by 20% by 2020. It occurs in four-yearly phases and requires regular energy audits which highlight energy savings for large businesses.

Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR)

The aim of SECR is to further incentivise the improvement of energy efficiency and the reduction of carbon emissions.

TM44

This is the accepted guidance for judging the efficiency of air-conditioning units in the UK. It was designed to support inspections to comply with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). But TM44 can provide assistance to any building owner or manager looking to optimise their air-conditioning system.

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 is a globally recognised management system that supports businesses in all sectors to manage and reduce energy use and costs through the development of an Energy Management System (EnMS). Certification to ISO 50001 is not obligatory but a well-designed EnMS can significantly cut costs and energy consumption.

ISO 14001

The ISO 14001 Environmental Standards standard suits companies of all sizes and is designed to define, analyse, and reduce environmental impacts. The intention of the ISO 14001 Standard is to provide a framework for a strategic approach to the organisation’s environmental policy, plans, and actions.
